An open mile handicap that has a short list of Joshua's Gold, Lauro, Bold Indian, Alberts Story and Miss Porcia, and Bold Indian gets the nod. Ian Semple's charge has c&d winning form to his name and is back on a winning mark. He enjoys a sound surface so he also has that in his favour and a mile is just about his best trip, so he is our choice. Joshua's Gold took a minor Catterick handicap over 7f last time but a 3lb rise for that, plus the step back up to a mile, is not entirely in his favour, so he is opposed. Lauro has won over the course, but that was three years ago, and she is not the force she once was. Even so, she did win over this trip at Redcar last time, so she is at least in good heart, though a 3lb rise might find her out. Gala Sunday is a decent campaigner but he really needs further to be seen to best effect while Miss Porcia may find some help from the cheek pieces but is a bit of a plodder, and we prefer Bold Indian.
