There appears to be little strength in depth to this maiden with Sue's Surprise getting the vote over Demisemiquaver and Emily's Rainbow. Having been beaten when backed on her last two starts, Sue's Surprise is on a retrieving mission here. She is, however, the highest-rated of the field and, if cheekpieces have the desired effect, she still looks the one to beat. Demisemiquaver had shown fair maiden form prior to disappointing at Newmarket last time. However, the drop in trip today should help and her chance is very much respected, while Emily's Rainbow rates as the interesting newcomer from the William Haggas stable. Of the others, Cow Girl has shown some promise, albeit at a modest level, and Clive Brittain's Penang needs to build on two modest career efforts so far if she is to feature today. All of which returns us to the selection, which is Sue's Surprise.
