In depth

Verdict

It seems logical to stick with those drawn lower in the field than high so, with this in mind, White Deer is selected ahead of H Harrison and Gallantry. Just beaten off today's mark by King Of Argos at Goodwood five days ago, White Deer looks an obvious player if those exertions have not taken the edge off him. Much as H Harrison is now four pounds above a winning mark, he is a course and distance winner and is well drawn so a good run is far from ruled out. Gallantry was just beaten over a mile here last time and, with the drop in trip looking likely to suit, he can go well. Ektimaal has struggled from his revised mark after completing a four-timer before that so maybe has a little to prove now. The Kiddykid has it to prove at today's trip, although he has dropped to what could be a very fair mark. Finally, Orpsie Boy is well drawn but, courtesy of his good Ascot win, he nnow has to defy a career-high mark if he is going to win. All of which returns us to the selection, which is White Deer.
