In depth

Verdict

Mark Johnston runs three in this series final and all have won previously over course and distance. Joe Fanning would presumably have had first pick and is partnering top weight MAKYON, considered good enough to run in the Coventry Stakes. He has probably shown his best form on ground with plenty of give so gets the nod. One Hart has never encountered going this testing before while Good Night Mr Tom was a beaten favourite on soft ground at Catterick. Paul Hanagan rides National League, who was second in a qualifier for this in July and won later at Chester, so he’s preferred to Spygate of the two Fahey runners. Rominintheglomin won recently at Ffos Las but is a massive 18lb out of the handicap.
