        Verdict

        It was soft ground when Uncle Brit scored at Carlisle last time and Irish raider Cheers Buddy is upped 10lb after winning at Down Royal. Coreczka beat several of these when runner-up over 7f at Ayr while Rioja Day was placed yet again at Musselburgh recently and remains with just the one win in 30 starts. ICY BLUE has not won for over a year now but went close off a similar mark in a higher grade handicap at Ripon last time. It could be the turn of Richard Whitaker's charge today and he gets the nod in an open contest.
