Verdict

Richard Fahey has plenty of runners with solid claims on the Hamilton card and he may be able to take this claimer with recent course and distance winner SUNNYSIDE TOM, who will relish any further softening of the ground, and gets the verdict ahead of Gaily Noble and Cold Quest. Linda Perratt's gelding has been beaten a long way in his most recent starts but they have been in decent handicaps and he has to be considered being dropped in grade today. Howard Johnson's First Bay is less exposed than his opponents after just two career starts but he is strictly held by the selection on running here last time, while Admiral Dundas would prefer a faster surface. Jack Junior has struggled since winning his maiden when with Brian Meehan and has failed to score for David Nicholls but cannot be discounted being dropped into a claimer receiving weight all round. Gaily Noble has every chance if able to handle the ground conditions but a safer option looks to be Sunnyside Tom, who can give Richard Fahey another winner.
