Verdict

David O'Meara confuses matters for punters by running two here, of which JACBEQUICK makes most appeal. The Calcutta gelding had been in really consistent form this term until his two most recent starts when beaten in a tough York handicap and the Carlisle Bell. However, he didn't perform that badly on either occasion and should go well here returned to rather calmer waters under regular pilot Josh Doyle. Stable companion Terhaal cannot be ignored, nor Irish raider Carbon Dating, although patience is starting to wear thin with the Shanahan inmate. Spes Nostra has gone right off the boil on recent starts but Muhaafiz has a decent claim on his win here on his penultimate start and both Robinnielly and Templier are not ruled out for the three-year-old brigade, although the latter is another requiring form rediscovery.
