WHIRL ME ROUND (NAP) sets the standard after failing narrowly to make a winning debut at Beverley when beaten by the minimum margin by fellow newcomer Naples Bay. The Ryan charge was comfortably clear of the third and had more experienced types in arrears which gives the form a healthy sheen. He was not especially strong in the market that day and this looks a good opportunity to go one better. Mary Brady is the only one of his rivals to have placed when third at Thirsk but she failed to fire when only ninth at Beverley on Monday. It is interesting that David O'Meara returns her to action so rapidly and she looks the main threat. Zebedee Star may improve for her debut and the market should help to sort out the chances of the three newcomers, all of whom represent good northern yards.
