MAYAALAH for John Gosden has the strongest claims in this maiden with Clinging Vine and Faldal also given chances. The selection can be forgiven for not building on a promising start to her career at Yarmouth last time as it would appear the good to soft ground was not to her liking. On her penultimate outing on the Polytrack at Kempton saw her improve from her debut and run well to land second place in a similar contest. She was taken three wide for most of that race, which wouldn't have helped her on that occasion and the filly is much better drawn this time. A close relative of 1000 Guineas winner Lahan her pedigree also suggests she has too much for this field. Richard Hannon's Clinging Vine comes here off the back of a debut run at Kempton where she stayed on well to finish six of fourteen. Invariably horses from this yard tend to come on from their first outings and with her family tree including the high class Lover's Knot and the useful Foodbroker Founder it appears this trip will be about right and that she should be in the mix. Faldal has also just had the one run and makes his debut for trainer Tom Dascombe after finishing midfield on her first trip to a racecourse in Ireland over the summer. With that in mind fitness could be an issue and she might be best watched although with the benefit of some racing experience she has a chance to come back strongly. Any market support for Luca Cumani¿s newcomer Cascata should be noted. This one may eventually need a much longer trip but is related to a couple of group one winners and with connections paying out 95,000 guineas for her you¿d expect this one to have more than a little talent. If in double figures Thaumatology could be an each-way bet with her on the improve but without the market guiding us Mayaalah should score.
