Darn Good turns out quickly under a penalty and can follow up at the expense of Champagne Shadow, Garston Star and Masterman Ready. A back-to-back winner at Warwick in the summer, Darn Good had crept up the weights and had struggled since, but Richard Hannon's three-year-old bounced back to form at Bath on Monday under a confident ride from Ryan Moore. Today's contest appears to be little better, and a six-pound rise might not be enough to stop him from following up. Garston Star opened his account here in apprentice-company in August but was very disappointing next time at Southwell. Maybe the step up to this distance for the first time will help, but he does not make a great deal of appeal, and a bigger danger may be Champagne Shadow who stuck to his task well when second at Lingfield. He too tries two miles for the first time but has the assistance of Frankie Dettori. Masterman Ready was too keen at Redcar, but that tendency did not stop him from winning at Yarmouth earlier, and he gives every indication that he will stay today's trip. Darn Good has already proved that he stays though, and he is taken to record a quick follow-up.
