Fifth Position finished ahead of the likes of Tinandali, Nicholas T and Sky Defender when third in the John Smith’s Cup at York 10 days ago and will probably run his race again. Cape Cavalli has gone up 8lb for winning on the Knavesmire earlier in the month but further rain would aid his cause. Royal Hunt Cup sixth Bell Rock has hinted that he will stay this longer trip but obviously has stamina to prove. DEREVO weakened close home behind Fifth Position at Doncaster but is now 5lb better off with the winner. The Juddmonte colours have been getting plenty of exposure lately and Sir Michael Stoute’s colt is capable of better having had just the four runs. Restorer made a winning reappearance at Newbury and could well again if in the mood. Sucellus and Lawn Ranger are others with each-way claims at decent odds but Babbo's Boy turned in a shocker last time and Maydanny also has plenty to prove. Red October and Yuri Gagarin would need major improvement to figure in a race like this.
