Like 12 months ago, Maydanny looks to have a good draw for a front-runner. He is 12lb higher than when making all here last year but has definitely improved since and has actually been dropped a pound since beaten under a length by the promising Magical Morning over a mile at Sandown – he can reverse earlier Newmarket running with Bell Rock on much better terms. Mark Johnston, who has trained the winner of this race six times, also saddles Dream With Me and Sky Defender and the latter is another who will be going forward from the gates. Migration was a real eye-catcher after a lay-off at Salisbury and is back over his best trip today but last year’s Cambridgeshire winner MAJESTIC DAWN also ran well on his reappearance at Windsor and may have the race run to suit. Harrovian disappointed at Epsom in April and is now tried in cheekpieces but Caradoc is only a pound higher than for his last success so goes on the shortlist.
Majestic Dawn (IRE) 18-5 (10-0) Led, ridden 2f out, headed over 1f out, kept on, 3rd of 9, 1 3/4l behind Vintager (9-5) at Windsor 1m hcp (2) gd in Jun.
