Zebedee represents the strongest juvenile operation going and looks sure to go well but STONE OF FOLCA may have his measure once more; Lord Of The Stars, Avonmore Star and Mayson may prove best of the rest. John Best has gone on record as saying he's never had a horse with more natural speed than Stone Of Folca and that was shown at Royal Ascot, when the colt cantered through from near last to lead with a furlong to go in the Norfolk Stakes. Having been keen early he tired into fourth but that run came just two days after a similar effort in the Windsor Castle Stakes and we expect him to be held on to for longer here. Connections have booked Jimmy Quinn, a lightweight jockey, possibly with the Nunthorpe in mind later on to further underline their belief in this horse. Zebedee was a place behind our pick in the Norfolk before scoring comfortably in Listed company at Sandown. It's hard to argue that represented an improvement though and he looks no sure-thing to reverse form with Stone Of Folca, despite the fact the yard won this last year. Lord Of The Stars travelled like a good horse over six at Newmarket and looks sure to be suited by dropping in trip; he's just preferred to Avonmore Star of the remainder. The last-named gives trainer Richard Hannon a strong hand and arrives with confidence sky-high after a ready Salisbury success, but the second horse has been beaten since and on the figures he has to improve. Mayson didn't beat anything at Hamilton but this late foal should continue to improve and is evidently well thought of; he can improve past visored Serena's Pride and Choose Wisely, both of whom are beginning to look exposed. The latter's stablemate Bold Bidder ran a fine race in the Super Sprint and should do better than Leiba Leiba who is held back by his inability to settle. Stone Of Folca can show why connections think so much of him by swooping late to score.
