      Verdict

Summer's Eve can beat Edaara, Gower Song and newcomer Quenched in this fillies' only event. Henry Candy has a high opinion of Summer's Eve who is reckoned capable of landing a Listed event at the very least judged on what we have seen so far. She was sensationally disqualified after beating Swan Queen at Folkestone, but the latter proved the merit of that form when landing a handicap at York last week. Summer's Eve then lined up in the Oaks Trial at Lingfield and was not disgraced at all in finishing third, less than three lengths behind Sindirana, and all in all it will be a disappointment if she cannot move on from that effort here. Edaara is a likeable sort who was sent off favourite at Newmarket in April. A close second to Illuminise, those around her have done little to advertise the form, but being a daughter of Pivotal, she should at least improve both for the outing and on this easier ground. David Elsworth saddles both Forest Lodge and Gower Song, with Richard Quinn on the latter, while John Gosden, successful 12 months ago with Twyla Tharp, introduces Quenched, who is related to the smart Day Flight on the dam's side. There are plenty with potential here, but Summer's Eve should make her experience count.
