    Verdict

    Corridor Creeper can put one over on the younger Tax Free, with Green Manalishi seen as the other main contender. The going is certain to prove a key factor here, and you can be sure that Dandy Nicholls has been on the phone to the clerk of the course to ascertain just how soft the ground is as regards the chance of Tax Free. A look back at the four-year-old's record reveals that he did win on good to soft going on his Thirsk debut last year, but he is much better on faster ground, and although he put in a most eye-catching effort in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket, finishing best of the stands side group behind Dandy Man, we are prepared to oppose him here. The proven soft-ground performer is Corridor Creeper who came back with a bang when scoring at Beverley just under a fortnight ago, and as all bar one of his 10 career wins have come over five furlongs, including over today's course-and-distance, he must have a great chance under Shane Kelly who is riding out of his skin at present. Tax Free's stablemate Fire Up The Band handled the soft ground when landing a Group 3 here last July, but has to shoulder a penalty, and a bigger threat may be Green Manalishi, but surely Corridor Creeper can turn the tables on him on nearly a stone better terms for the length-and-a-half that separated them at Newbury last time, and all in all, it is Milton Bradley's charge that is the percentage call.
