Talbot was doing his best work at the finish over 6f at Ascot and the step up in trip should suit. Tawleed had excuses on his reappearance and had a subsequent winner back in third when scoring at Newmarket but ALDAARY (NAP) is undoubtedly his owner’s first string. Unbeaten so far, William Haggas’ gelding can already be described as Listed class rated 105 and he was hugely impressive on his return to action at Ascot. Soft ground suits and he’ll be hard to beat despite a big weight concession. Chester second Bravado is preferred to Bowman of the two Johnston runners and Oo De Lally is back over his winning trip. Roman Dynasty was highly tried last year but might need this and the equally-unexposed Soundslikethunder carries a bigger threat.
Aldaary Evensfav (9-0) Slightly hampered start, held up in rear, smooth headway far side of group 2f out, quickened to lead entering final furlong, soon clear, very easily, won at Ascot 7f hcp (2) gs in May beating Big Narstie (8-13) by 3 1/4l, 7 ran.
Roman Dynasty (IRE) 10-3fav (9-3) Slowly into stride, towards rear, switched right and headway over 2f out, kept on inside final furlong, no impression on winner, 4th of 8, 2 1/2l behind Bahrain Pride (9-3) at Ripon 6f lst (1) sft in Aug.
Oo De Lally (IRE) 33-1 (9-1) Midfield, pushed along over 2f out, faded inside final furlong, 7th of 8, 5 1/2l behind Rohaan (9-1) at Ascot 6f Grp 3 stks (1) gf in Apr.
Twaasol 16-1 (8-13) Held up in last pair, some headway near side of group inside final furlong, went 4th towards finish, never troubled principals, 4th of 7, 6 1/4l behind Aldaary (9-0) at Ascot 7f hcp (2) gs in May.
Bravado (FR) 8-1 (9-7) Led, pushed along over 2f out, ridden and headed inside final furlong, stayed on, 2nd of 7, 2 3/4l behind Master Zoffany (8-8) at Chester 1m hcp (2) gs in May.
Soundslikethunder (IRE) 7-4 (9-8) Soon led, ridden 2f out, ran on well, headed on line, 2nd of 12, shd behind Achelois (8-11) at Newbury 7f stks (4) gs in May.
Tawleed (IRE) 4-1 (9-7) Tracked leader centre, tracked leaders when groups merged 3f out, ridden to lead over 1f out, ran on, won at Newmarket 7f hcp (4) gf in May beating Dashing Dick (8-7) by 1 1/2l, 8 ran.
Titan Rock 18-1 (8-12) Close up, ridden 2f out, weakened final furlong, 8th of 15, 4 1/2l behind Line Of Departure (8-12) at Doncaster 7f stks (2) gd in Sep.
Talbot (IRE) 11-1 (9-5) Held up towards rear, good headway near side of group over 1f out, ran on inside final furlong, finished well into 2nd close home but not quite pace to reach winner, 2nd of 13, 3/4l behind Inver Park (8-13) at Ascot 6f hcp (4) gs in May.
Bowman (IRE) 11-1 (8-11) Tracked leaders pushed along over 2f out, ridden and unable to quicken inside final 2f, plugged on final furlong, never going pace to threaten, 6th of 11, 7 3/4l behind Wobwobwob (8-7) at York 7f hcp (3) gs in May.
Rhoscolyn 5-2jfav (9-6) Made all, switched to near side over 2f out, shaken up and strongly pressed from 2f out, kept on gamely inside final furlong, won at Beverley 7f hcp (5) gs in May beating Crown Princess (9-3) by 3/4l, 8 ran.
