Some well-bred newcomers to sort through, none more so than Alqaayid, who is a first foal and is from the same family as the high-class pair One In A Million and Alnasr Alwasheek. From a stable that has a 22% strike rate with its juveniles, he is sure to know what is required and is given the vote. Burlington Place is a half-brother to a couple of winners and is out of a mare that won over this trip as a three-year-old, while Mahmoon is a half-brother to smart sprinter Kalindi. His dam won over five-furlongs on her debut and the family clearly come to hand early. Torquemada is quite stoutly bred and will surely find this trip too sharp, while Heart's Desire is out of a maiden mare, but is a half-sister to ten-furlong winner Antique Pearl. Helibel is a half-brother to the useful Pentecost and hails from the same family as Caprichio. However, her yard has had a quite time with their juveniles this term and Helibel may need more time. Neither of those to have run Divinsky or Cello looked as though they were a winner waiting to happen, so with that in mind, Alqaayid is taken to make a winning debut.
