      Verdict

SHAKESPEARE'S SON, Penrice Castle and Compton Rose are shortlisted in the finale and the vote is given to the first-named. The selection has been in good form and there was plenty to like about the way he chased home Royal Challenge at Wolverhampton last time. He has yet to win on the turf but he remains on a fair mark and he should prove hard to beat. Penrice Castle finished in mid-division in a handicap at Folkestone last time and although she should again run her race, the handicapper may have her measure at present. Compton Rose wasn't beaten far back in fifth behind Enodoc over this course and distance last time and a reproduction of that effort should see him in the shake-up. Lithaam is hard to recommend at present as Milton Bradley's string remain out of form, a comment that would also apply to Bluebok. Shakespeare's Son looks the percentage call in a tough finale.
