Shingle Street has a 7lb penalty for his recent win and so is passed over in favour of Heavenly Pleasure who gets the vote ahead of Ballyhoo. The selection won a novice event at Towcester at the end of March when he stayed on well to forge clear. This major step up in trip looks sure to suit and with the ground to suit, he looks capable of another big run off a decent racing weight. English Jim and Ballyhoo have both won over the course and distance before, the latter winning this race last year. Both warrant respect but appear to be too high in the weights at present. Shingle Street isn't assured to get this trip and with his penalty looks on a stiff enough mark, whilst Ingres is consistent enough and has place claims. A trappy race for punters then, can go the way of Heavenly Pleasure.
