In depth

Verdict

Having only failed by a neck against a subsequent winner at Ludlow, IT'S A STEAL isn’t going to get many better chances to win for the first time since 2014. Leith Hill Legasi did better last time at Uttoxeter but was earlier pulled up behind in-form veteran Goring One at Wincanton. For Carmel was favourite on his chasing bow at Lingfield last month so is presumably thought capable of better while Gowell could improve for the fitting of blinkers, though was behind Goosen Maverick at Wincanton earlier this month. Colmers Hill was beaten almost five lengths by Goring One here on Boxing Day but there should be little between the pair at the revised weights.
