In depth

Verdict

Only a handful of runners here merit serious consideration and preference is for Wade Farm Billy. The Good Guy finished over twenty lengths in front of Poseidon's Secret last time but the latter was favourite that day, failed to give his running and sports a tongue tie today as a result. If that has the desired effect it may well enable him to give Kim Bailey's runner more of a race this evening but he clearly has something to prove. The Good Guy is heading the right way and relished the return to racing on a faster surface last time and should run a big race again with conditions to suit. Darksideofthemoon showed a little more behind Qrackers last time and is considered as a result but we prefer to take a chance with hurdling debutant Wade Farm Billy. Gary Moore's runners at this track always merit respect and this Dr Massini gelding won his bumper here on good ground on his penultimate start. The form is nothing out of the ordinary and he was disappointing on soft ground last time but the return to racing on top of the ground may enable him to post an improved performance and Wade Farm Billy is our idea of the winner in the opener.
