Six unraced two-year-olds line up here and, as ever, pay carefully heed to the betting market. However, we'll plump for the Michael Bell-trained Bright Moll. The selection cost 37,000 guineas and, being by a fast sire out of a mare who won at five and six furlongs, looks to have good credentials for this race. Turning to the others. Colonel Bilko cost 19,000 guineas as a yearling and has enough about him on breeding to warrant consideration. It is hard to gauge which of Kissinafool and Smokincanon is best of the two Bill Turner runners but, overall, they both look opposable. Richard Hannon runs Veneer who has to be respected from such a powerful stable. It will be interesting to see how well five furlongs suits him, though, as his mother stayed a mile-and-a-half. Justenjoy Yourself is related to a number of fast animals and, although cheaply bought, should not be entirely dismissed from calculations. For us, though, it's Bright Moll to score in the opener.
