Kombinacja can outclass her rivals, with the likes of Wayward Melody, Sarahs Quay and Elfkirk taken to give her most to do. Kombinacja took on the best of her generation when campaigned on the level in her native Poland, and hopes were high that she would quickly make her mark on these shores for Tom George. However, since picking up a couple of hurdles races in 2003, she has basically been disappointing, although her second in Listed company at Cheltenham in April sets the standard. Since going chasing she has not looked like opening her account, but the combination here of a step up in trip, drop in grade and good ground should ensure that she makes a bold bid to put matters right. Wayward Melody was held up to get the trip over the course and distance last time, in the end finishing third under topweight. She is still only five and lines up under more favourable conditions so can go close as well. Sarahs Quay has only had four career starts but needs to show more than she has done to figure, while Elfkirk finished ninth in the Mares Final at Newbury in March and is sure to have been well schooled for her chase debut. All in all, Kombinajca makes most appeal based on her past form, and if she jumps soundly today, a win is very much on the cards.
