SIR IKE makes most appeal in this moderate bunch, and we think he can see off the likely challenges from Auld Arty and Musigny. Stuart Kittow's gelding won at the 16th attempt two runs back when winning a Chepstow handicap in good fashion. He couldn't follow up, but in this sort of company he can be expected to be at the vanguard. He's conceding weight to all bar Outer Hebrides, but is at least a winner in a field that can be described as inconsistent at best, or consistently bad. The slight drop in trip is a positive for him. Auld Arty scored earlier this season too, albeit on Polytrack, and he's only been placed twice in seven runs on turf. Those two are officially rated nine pounds higher than Musigny, who's yet to make the frame in seven outings, but the fact we'd give him a chance here says all you need to know about the calibre of some of these. Milton Bradley tends to do well in these sort of races, so you'd give minor chances to Mr Rev and stablemate Outer Hebrides. It's not a race expected to live long in the memory, and to minimum stakes we'll side with Sir Ike.
