Verdict

Tactics may play a major part in this small field finale, but Bazelle has the form and can come out on top over Lilac Mist and Mambo Princess. Bazelle had the distinction of getting to within half-a-length of Dash To The Top at Leicester last September, and on that form you would think that Paul D'Arcy's filly was nailed on to open her account sooner rather than later. However, she has been frustrating to follow, finding one or two too good on a number of occasions, including at Doncaster on her last start in July. She tried to dominate proceedings then but was worn down near the finish, and now that she has had a little break, similar tactics may pay dividends this time. Lilac Mist is another proverbial bridesmaid, having found one too good on three of her five outings to date. Henry Cecil's filly did not help her cause at Haydock by hanging to the left when tackled and it remains to be seen how she will cope with this first try on a right-handed track. Mambo Princess shaped well enough on her belated return at Thirsk and steps up to a trip more in keeping with her breeding so should not be left out of calculations either. Elizabethan Age was fourth behind three colts on her belated return to action at Newmarket a fortnight ago and is worth a mention, as is Bling Bling with her stable in form. Any one of this quintet could come out on top, but Bazelle deserves a change of luck and may get it here.
