Discotheque is the pick ahead of Tiana and Meddle, with Secret Liaison expected to improve on his dramatic Newcastle debut to also figure somewhere along the line. The latter was initially banned from racing for forty days, Sir Mark Prescott fined ¿2,000 and rider Jean-Pierre Guillambert hit with a 14-day absence after the stewards deemed that the colt was a non-trier on his Newcastle debut last Monday when he finished seventh of 16. Connections have decided to appeal so he runs here today and it will be interesting to see how he gets on. However, on the bare form it is Discotheque who makes most appeal. The Brian Meehan filly has shaped with a great deal of promise in her two starts to date, including when fourth at Newmarket 10 days ago. She still holds an entry in the Cheveley Park and although that may come too soon for her, she remains one to keep on the right side of. Tiana ran green on her Newbury debut and should improve. Although by Diktat, her pedigree suggests that this is as far as she would want and it would not be a surprise to see her campaigned over the minimum in time. Meddle also has the same sire but in contrast has plenty of stamina in her make-up, and she should be staying on at the finish, but by that time Discotheque may well have the race in safe keeping.
