Verdict

Oil Man sets a fair standard but most of the field are open to improvement and there are also a couple of interesting newcomers; we'll take a chance with one of the latter in Doncasaque. The market will be as revealing as ever but Henry Cecil's colt makes some appeal on paper and is likely to know his job whilst his sire's progeny are usually effective with cut in the ground so rain shouldn't be a problem. Oil Man stepped up markedly on his debut performance to chase home a fair sort at Lingfield and that effort makes him the one to beat but similar improvement from the likes of Itsher and Premier Superstar isn't inconceivable. Dome Rocket appears to be the first string from William Knight's yard whose two year olds were in good form last month. He will stay further in time but wouldn't need to be out of the ordinary to win this although we're going to side with fellow newcomer Doncasaque.
