In depth

Verdict

Seattle Robber showed improved form for the fitting of a visor to win at Musselburgh last time, and is taken to follow up here under a seven pound penalty; the opposition is either moderate or out of form, and the pick of them could be Hugs Destiny. The latter was running in a better race when sixth to Sporting Gesture at York last time, but had shown what he is capable of when second at Carlisle last month and seems sure to be in the shake-up if running to that level of form. Esperance, Zalkani and Kinsman all seem to be at their best on sand, Icannshift has a chance on his best form but seems to be below that level at the moment, and the booking of Jamie Spencer for Charleston Lover, third in an amateurs' race at Newbury two starts ago, suggests that this horse is fancied for a place at least. But for the selection we'll stick to Seattle Robber; he had been running to a reasonable level this summer, but the application of a first time visor combined with a slight drop in trip brought about something of a revelation at Musselburgh, when he scored by a very cosy three and a half lengths. This race is certainly no more competitive and with the visor on again Seattle Robber should land a quickfire double here.
