Kapellmeister showed plenty of promise on his debut and if translating that ability to turf he should be the one to beat here. There are, though, a number of interesting opponents, the pick of whom may just be Wonderful Desert. Kapellmeister shaped well on debut at Wolverhampton, Charlie Egerton's colt finishing fourth of 11 to Flor Y Nata and the booking of Jamie Spencer is noteworthy. Deputy Consort is a nicely bred colt from John Gosden's yard and although he didn't show a great deal on his first outing at Newbury, that was a hot-looking maiden and it would be no surprise to see him show marked improvement here. Celebration Song was a beaten favourite at Pontefract last time but was well backed on that occasion and is also one to be wary of. Mitanni and Packing Hero are a couple of interesting newcomers to note as far as the betting is concerned, but for the selection we turn to Wonderful Desert. A beautifully bred filly out of the great One So Wonderful, she missed the break on her debut at Windsor and, without being knocked about, finished a reasonable seventh of 14 behind Nantyglo. She is virtually guaranteed to improve for that experience and Wonderful Desert is the selection in a trappy opening maiden.
