LADY BROOKIE and Beach Patrol both took second on their respective debuts and can put their experience to good use by dominating the finish here, with narrow preference for the former. Bill Turner does well with his juveniles and this filly ran a taking race at the first time of asking when taking second in the Brockelsby. Not un-backed that day, she clearly knew her job and showed tremendous speed throughout before finding just the one too good and with Richard Fahey responsible for that animal she lost nothing in defeat. The concern has to be how much improvement there is to come but there should be enough to see her oblige here with cut in the ground clearly no issue. Beach Patrol made much of the running on his debut, shaping as though a sixth furlong wouldn't go amiss. It was still a taking effort and he should come on plenty but the combination of a switch to turf and slight trip concerns is enough to see us oppose Mick Channon's colt. With the newcomers looking up against it, Scarlet Rocks may come home in third. David Evans has a large string to go to war with this year and his filly did him proud when she also finished second on her debut. No match for the winner that day, she'll have to have come on plenty for it and also has it to prove on the ground but there's no reason to expect anything other than a good run. It'll be interesting to see what the market says about Bathwick Bear and Dingle View who are stablemates of Scarlet Rocks but our feeling is both will need to be above average to score. Similar comments apply to Snapshott and Babich Bay, neither of whose trainers are known for debutant winners, whilst Ivan's A Star will has over five lengths to find with Beach Patrol. Experience may count for plenty in this maiden with Lady Brookie given a confident vote.
