Verdict

Hi Rudolf bounced back to form when landing a similar contest at Plumpton recently but has a penalty to carry for that success and, as he has never been the most consistent of performers, is passed over in favour of Upham Lord who gets the verdict over Guilsborough Gorse. The last mentioned returns to a handicap after two starts in hunter chase-company but looks to have plenty of weight. Ferdy Murphy has his string in good form again so Ulusaba is worthy of consideration, especially as the eight-year-old is only 3lbs higher than when scoring at Hereford in November. Peacemaker, Courtledge and Mr Hickman all have place claims but for the vote we return to Upham Lord. Peter Beaumont's gelding is normally a sound jumper so it is somewhat alarming that he has failed to complete on his last two starts. However, this multiple winning pointer and hunter chaser returns to handicapping on a decent mark and is capable of giving weight away all round.
