In depth

Verdict

This is a wide-open finale and the narrow preference is for Raven Hall Lady, who is preferred to Aubigny and Bright Spirit. The selection certainly looks the part on breeding and if this mare from the Mark Rimel yard is supported in the market then it could pay to take the hint. Bright Spirit was quite well-fancied when last seen out at Hereford but he was disappointing. This faster ground will be in his favour today and he is certainly one of the leading players in this bumper and it would be no surprise to see him go close. Aubigny was a fair sixth in a bumper at Warwick on his racecourse debut and Alan King's gelding is sure to come on for that run, although he will need to do so to get competitive. The Rocking Dock ran okay last time but will need to step-up on that effort to get competitive today and we will take Raven Hall Lady to lead them home in this finale.
