Double Scoop is a rare runner here for Brendan Powell and runs here in preference to an engagement at Wetherby late this week, but we prefer the chance of On The Verge, who shaped with plenty of promise over course and distance when chasing home the highly-regarded Direct Flight, with the third home that day some 14 lengths away. John Jenkins' gelding is sure to be all the wiser for the experience here and can confirm the promise shown. Out of a mare that won three races over timber, Double Scoop is clearly of interest, but whether the gelding will find this track too sharp for him, we will have to wait and see. Upright Ima shaped with a degree of promise on her debut last year, but she is out of a mare that stayed well and will surely need a stiffer test than she is likely to get here. Herecomestanley has shown little in his two outings too date, while Stock Dove is flat bred and it is something of a surprise we haven't seen her until now. However, On The Verge sets a fair standard and is clearly the one they all have to beat.
