In depth

Verdict

HALO MOON, who had been a beaten favourite three times after returning from a long break in November, has finally started to fulfil his potential and though a massive 18lb higher than his victory here last month showed at Newcastle last week that there's much more to come. Celtic Intrigue completed a hat-trick on summer ground and was beaten a long way on his return to action on heavy going at Ludlow so wouldn't want any more rain. Alanjou won a better class race than this over a longer trip here last January but has been beaten a distance on both subsequent starts and though the veteran Fine Parchment has scored in much higher grade there hasn't been much encouragement lately. Ravens Brook has been pulled up in four of his last five and beaten a long way in the other.
