Verdict

ERIC BLOODAXE won a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Limerick by seven lengths before well beaten at Grade 1 level in his next two starts. He then produced a fine run in a handicap over three miles here where he was attempting to concede 10lb to the winner after which he changed stables. Bois De Clamart is a heavy ground specialist having won strong handicaps over fences at Gowran and timber at Cork in the spring. Likely to have needed last month's run at Sligo he'll be expected to be in the firing line. Captain Conby won twice at Punchestown last winter before a close third in a Thurles Grade 3. Still there when falling two out in an Aintree Grade 1 next time, he may just need a confidence booster. The Road To Fame scrambled home in a Limerick maiden before a much better effort when placed in a Punchestown Grade 3.
