Verdict

A small field and the market will help guide but without that information we are happy to take a chance on KINGS RICHES ahead of Lord Hugo and Beck's Bolero. Peter Bowen's newcomer is bred to make up into a nice staying hurdler but this first foal of a successful mare may be good enough to win first time up. His trainer gets the odd decent newcomer in this sphere and if the market agrees then he should go close. Lord Hugo needs close inspection in the betting as he makes his debut; Jimmy Derham is a good young rider as well so the pair could a big race. Evan Williams will no doubt have been disappointed by the poor performance of Beck's Bolero at Ludlow last time. He needs to show that he is better than that but could not have found an easier race in which to do so. Court Gamble's debut run worked out well but she was beaten by over fifty lengths and that was over two years ago, whilst Dashing Patriarch is considered a strong contender despite being beaten a total of 99 lengths in three runs to date. Not a strong way to end the card so a chance is taken on debutant Kings Riches.
