Verdict

Locksmith bolted up on his debut and holds the key here ahead of Starlight Express and Baby Run. Locksmith was owned by The Queen when in training with Roger Charlton, but never made it to the racetrack. Given his past, it was no surprise when he scorched home on his debut at Ascot in a race that was described as a 'middle distance flat-race in disguise.' This is no stronger and he should easily defy a penalty before meeting better opponents in the future. Starlight Express comes from an in-form yard and this Flat-bred filly shaped well on her introduction at Newbury recently. She was a place behind Baby Run though and is no good thing to reverse that for. Both should battle it out for a place though behind the logical selection Locksmith who faces an easy task.
