      Verdict

      WILLIE JOHN changed hands for just short of £2million at the start of the year. He’s taken a long time to come to hand but made an impressive reappearance in a novice event over this trip at Doncaster and his trainer has entered him in the Champion Stakes so he must think he has plenty more to offer. Fellow three-year-old Connect won a valuable handicap here on Derby Day but has finished last in his other three starts this year. Sovereign Debt won the Group 3 Diomed Stakes here last year and a Listed contest at York in June but this trip is beyond his best. It’s also probably too far for Gabrial and Mistiroc has a lengthy absence to overcome. Dolphin Vista has only raced once on the Flat this year and was tailed off. He’s had wind surgery and changed stables since.
