Verdict

Pettochside ran in the Stewards’ Cup but was earlier behind BOOM THE GROOM at Goodwood. Tony Carroll’s charge, who unseated his rider when favourite for this last year, only ran last week at York but had earlier gone close off this mark at Chelmsford and can belatedly open his account for the season ahead of Blue De Vega, third in a conditions race at Nottingham after winning at Ascot and fourth in the Dash here in June. Jack Taylor is best at Brighton but Carlton Frankie could be interesting as she’s only a pound higher than when scoring at Redcar in May.
