Goodwood Prince is sure to be a popular choice after his solid effort, from a poor draw here last week, as is recent Chepstow winner Captain Hardy, but the one to be with is Jacaranda. Brian Meehan's gelding was trounced by the rejuvenated Gilded Dancer at Lingfield last time, but as the winner has since followed up in a valuable handicap at Newmarket's July meeting off a 9lbs higher mark, that run doesn't look so bad after all. Prior to that effort he had looked progressive and should again take care of Captain Hardy, who was 3 1/2 lengths behind him at Newbury and is only 3lbs worse in. The biggest threat should prove to be Goodwood Prince, who has been knocking on the door of late and as he is already proven around here, he will provide a stiff test. Fort Mchenry, a winner here as a juvenile, hasn't really fired this season and although he is in danger of becoming well handicapped, he is probably best watched until he shows a bit more spark. Tease is another who has struggled of late, but she is starting to slip in the weights and it would not be a surprise to see an improved effort from her. Polden Chief looks to have too much to do at this level, so this looks best left to Jacaranda, who is taken to make all, despite his far from ideal draw.
