    Verdict

    Richard Hughes takes a rare ride for Michael Bell on My Strategy but the gelding remains unproven on good ground or better and is, somewhat reluctantly, passed over. Vale Of Iron appeared to be in the grip of the assessor until running a fine second at Kempton in a competitive London Series Mile qualifier when seemingly unfancied. He'll go close if translating that improved level to Turf, whilst Bakht A Rawan took advantage of a lenient mark to romp home at Nottingham suggesting he's on the improve but is 8lb higher as a result. MERRITT ISLAND hasn't added to her success on seasonal reappearance but subsequent runs read well in the context of this race and hopefully she'll be afforded a soft lead by rivals preferring waiting tactics.
