MANAGUA is our idea of the most likely winner with Run For Ede's and Peace Corps nominated as players. Mick Channon's charge was thought good enough to try his hand at Group level a couple of years ago and while he has failed to build upon a fair reappearance at Yarmouth, it seems notable that connections have taken their time with him this term. Run For Ede's needs little introduction. A specialist over the trip, he did very little wrong at Windsor last time out. Peace Corps returns to the flat having had a spin over hurdles. He appears to have become much more consistent for the application of headgear. Epsom Salts has tended to run his better races at this time of the season so a market watch is advised. Profit's Reality and Quinsman have to bounce back from a couple of wide margin defeats. Managua is hardly bombproof as selections go but his connections' cautious attitude seems not to be misplaced.
Run For Ede's 5-1 (9-0) Took keen hold, held up in last pair, good headway on wide outside over 2f out, soon hung left, went 2nd final furlong, no impression on winner, 2nd of 10, 1 1/4l behind Some Sunny Day (8-11) at Windsor 1m 4f hcp 0-80 (4) gd in May.
Profit's Reality (IRE) 25-1 (9-8) Led, went wide on bend 7f out, ridden 3f out, headed over 2f out, weakened quickly, eased when beaten final furlong, 5th of 10, 19l behind Arizona John (9-4) at Pontefract 1m 2f hcp 0-90 (3) gf in Jun.
Peace Corps 3-1 (9-3) Always prominent, ridden to challenge over 1f out, bumped entering final furlong, soon led, ran on, won at Wolverhampton 1m 4f mdn stks (5) pol in Feb beating Hydrant (9-3) by 2 1/4l, 10 ran.
Managua 16-1 (9-0) Raced wide in touch, steadied to mid-division 7f out, ridden over 3f out, weakened over 2f out, 9th of 13, 13l behind Just Lille (9-3) at Hamilton 1m 4f hcp 0-90 (3) gf in Jun.
Epsom Salts 15-2 (9-2) Started slowly, held up and behind, steady headway on outside 3f out, ridden and chased leaders over 1f out, stayed on under pressure inside final furlong, 4th of 11, 1 3/4l behind Outrageous Request (9-0) at Sandown 1m 6f hcp 0-85 (4) gd in Jun.
Quinsman 25-1 (9-0) In touch, ridden over 2f out, weakened well over 1f out, 7th of 8, 12l behind Speed Dating (8-10) at Kempton 1m 4f hcp 0-85 (4) pol in Jun.
