      Verdict

      A decent maiden in which Nicky Henderson fields Rosie Probert on the back of a win and a second over timber, although she must concede nearly a stone to all rivals. Pearl Street is a likely improver for Henry Candy whilst Shalwa took plenty of time to get organised at Newcastle last time when staying on steadily to land the runner-up spot. The market should prove instructive regarding Saddaqa on debut for Godolphin but the formbook choice is GERTRUDE GRAY. She was the only one to threaten Auld Alliance when the latter made all to score by a length at Chepstow last time and is clearly on the upgrade. The winner that day had previously finished second at Newmarket to Riposte who subsequently appeared at Royal Ascot to land a decisive and emotional success for Warren Place in the Ribblesdale Stakes.
