The winners of the last three renewals are all back for another crack. Desert Law was successful last year beating stablemate Monsieur Joe with several of these further behind including the previous two winners Caspian Prince and Duke Of Firenze. But Paul Midgley’s charge has shot-up the weights since and was behind Duke Of Firenze when the latter won at York last month. Caspian Prince beat Seeking Magic a head the year he won this and the latter was disqualified for interference having passed the post first at Goodwood last time. Boom The Groom and Normal Equilibrium were both well beaten in this last year and the latter and Kimberella finished behind York winner Harry Hurricane recently. But the vote goes to last season’s progressive sprinter MALJAA as there should be more to come from Roger Varian’s charge this year with a pipe-opener at Chester under his belt.
