Milton Bradley appears to hold a strong hand in this trappy sprint and Whitbarrow is just preferred to stable companion Corridor Creeper, with last year's winner Henry Hall, Dragon Flyer and Caribbean Coral all on the shortlist. Henry Hall won this race last year and is now on a three pounds lower mark, so although not seemingly in the best of form he cannot be ruled out. Corridor Creeper has been a model of consistency this season and if anyone deserves a race it is he. However, the fact that the handicapper keeps putting him up a pound or two means that he always seems to find one or two too good, and that may again be the case here. Dragon Flyer is an interesting runner, reverting to handicap company for the first time in a while, and he ran well at Newmarket earlier in the week, considering hi saddle slipped. Caribbean Coral is a hold-up horse with a smart turn of foot who could be a danger to all if things drop right, but in a tough race there may be some each-way value in siding with Whitbarrow. He floundered in the soft ground at Haydock last time, but had earlier run a blinder in the Portland at Doncaster when fifth from the wrong side of the track. A course and distance winner, Whitbarrow is now a pound lower than when beating some useful sorts, including Corridor Creeper, at Goodwood earlier in the year. He is clearly well handicapped, and in a very difficult race Whitbarrow looks the best value.
