NEW DIRECTION has only had one run on the surface when third on this card a year ago. He returned to action after a long break to make most in a huge field at the Curragh a couple of weeks ago and a 5lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent a quick follow-up. Shake The Bucket has been raised 7lb for gaining his eighth all-weather victory here last month and has since run well over hurdles. Boots Madden has done brilliantly to place him to win a dozen races and he should make a bold bid for number thirteen. King Of Aran is rated 11lb higher than when last successful but that was way back in 2012, the same year that the veteran Alhellal last won a race though the latter ran his best race for a very long time behind Reddot Dancer last month.
