CLEAR CUT has run three times and been beaten a short-head in two of them, including on his final start at Newmarket in October. He'd contested a Group 3 earlier on that track and has an entry in the Irish 2000 Guineas. He receives 3lb from Sir Mark Prescott's Bear Faced, who reappeared after a long break to land a Lingfield maiden before running well under a big weight in a handicap at Wolverhampton so he sets a good benchmark. Helvic did enough on his debut here a month ago to suggest he can land a handicap at some stage but the newcomer Modh Coinniolach has plenty to do.
