BLUE EMPYREAN, a bumper winner here in June, has run reasonably well in two better races than this over timber and just about shades it from Bertie Bell. The latter has an almost identical profile though he does have a victory between the flags to his credit and looks certain to stay this trip. Grandorio is interesting, despite not having run for two years, as he earned a rating of 88 on the Flat in the UK. The four-year-old Manalaska has shown some potential in bumpers and should be much more at home now tackling hurdles.
