Verdict

JACK SLADE gave notice of an imminent victory when a close second at Down Royal and duly obliged at Bellestown earlier this month when Scenic Star was behind. He's obviously on the upgrade and Noel Meade's charge should take this on his way to better things. Western Goose made a successful debut over fences here last month so it was a surprise to see her back over hurdles at Bellewstown where she didn't fare as well. She's on a reasonable mark and should get into the frame while Loch Luatha at last showed some potential when tackling handicap company for the first time on that same card. Last year's winner Abarta has been chasing and can revert to hurdles on a 16lb lower mark so has to be respected.
