In depth

Verdict

There is plenty to admire about the debut efforts of CEBUANO and Avida Star and both should make further progress. The former was totally unfancied at Roscommon three weeks ago but defied his big odds with a cracking run behind Earls Quarter, staying on strongly in the closing stages. That form appears to just give him the edge over Avida Star, who attracted support at Sligo where she couldn't quite match the pace of Ross Bay. First Morning has shown a little ability and may improve but the one to keep an interested eye on is newcomer Hunting Horn, a 320,000gn son of Pivotal, who is a half-brother to numerous winners including the high-class sprinter Acclamation.
